BLAENAFON hosts the Big Pit, one of the few places you can imagine what it
was like to be a coal miner. A working coal mine from 1880 to 1980, visitors can descend the 90m shaft with an experienced miner to be shown the workings of this historic mine. On the surface you can mosey through the housing exhibitions, displays and view the original colliery buildings. There is a licenced cafeteria and gift shop.
