Once the ancient capital of Cornwall, Launceston lies on the Cornwall Devon border surrounded by Bodmin Moor, the Atlantic Coast, and the tranquil River Tamar. If you take a short stroll through town streets, you will come across buildings of various cultural influences ranging from Tudor to Georgian to Gothic Victorian. Castle Street has many Georgian Town Houses some of which such as Lawrence House have been converted into hotels or museums. For those individuals who enjoy taking tours of the city, the Launceston Steam Railway is a great way to see the natural beauty of the town as it makes way to the Kensey Valley. At the end of the line is a Farm Park where people can see the animals and enjoy a picnic. For a bit more action there is the Camel Trail which is actually a bike trail that passes through the towns of Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow and follows the line of an unused railway.
