Axminster in Devon

Axminster is a market town in East Devon, widely known for its carpet making. Originally founded in the middle of the seventh century, Axminster served as a Royal estate through the thirteenth century. On the winding streets of Axminster, the Victorian influence on the buildings can be seen. The church of St. Mary and St. John the Evangelist is the parish church. It has aspects dating back to as early as the 12th century, even though it is so ancient; it is richly carpeted.
