Battersea Dogs Home

The famous Battersea Dogs Home has been the subject of a BBC television series and in contrast to its name is also a home for lost and stray cats. It was first set up on a temporary site in 1860 by Mrs Mary Tealby.Charles Dickens wrote an article in support of the home. It has been in Battersea since 1871. It is undoubtably the most famous pet shelter in the UK and there is also a cafe and pet shop on the site. Who knows, a visit there may result in you acquiring a new pet.
