This, Britain’s National Museum of the Performing Arts, was founded in 1987 as a branch of the Victoria & Albert Museum. It is located in the old flower market in Covent Garden and on permanent display in the main gallery are photographs, posters, props, stage models, costumes and other memorabilia dating from the time of Shakespeare through to the present. There is also a reconstruction of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre an audio-visual display and exhibitions on stage direction and make-up. The museum has a wonderful archive of video stage performances and other video-recordings. There are also some hands-on displays.
