Kendal in Cumbria

The town of Kendal which is located just outside the Lake District National Park, is a popular market town on the Kent River known for it’s shoe making and tapestry history. On the eastern edge of town upon a small hill sits the Kendal Castle Ruins, where the attractive town below can be observed.

Interestingly enough, if someone plans to go backpacking while visiting England, he should grab one of Kendal’s Mint Cakes, known by mountaineers to give energy in the wilderness. For someone who is interested in art, the Abbot Hall art gallery contains interesting exhibits of contemporary art. The gallery along with the rest of the town of Kendal has been restored to portray the times of the 18th century.
